Why Choose Weathering SteelWeathering Steel, often referred to as Cor-Ten or A606-4 / A588, is a group of steel alloys which were developed to eliminate the need for painting steel and to insure that the steel will form a stable rust-like appearance if exposed to the elements for a prolonged period of time. The net effect is that the steel creates a beautiful patina coating which also guards against future corrosion.
The corrosion-retarding effect of the patina is produced by a concentration of alloying elements in the steel. Amazingly, these alloys regenerate continuously when subjected to the influence of the weather. When your steel arrives it is an unrusted state.
Western States Metal Roofing is a major supplier of A606-4 and A588 Weathering Steel in the US and Canada. We offer the steel in many and various ways. A popular mode are Flat Sheets (48" or 60" widths). Another popular mode are Steel Coils which can be split into any weight and slit to any size.
